We started today’s meeting by reviewing the following dictionary definition of self-esteem:

A confidence and satisfaction in oneself. Self-respect.

Sasha added, “A boost of energy,” to our working definition.

Jane expanded with, “Not always being right, but learning how to be right.”

Then, we talked about adjectives and did a freewrite based  on those descriptions. Some examples were brilliant; intelligent; smart; funny; sad; energetic; empathetic; creative; and awesome.

After that, the STEAM girls came up with these titles for their web pages:

AIDAN: The Journey to Becoming a Unimermaid
CAMI: Alex in Wonderland
ELLIE: Drawings of Animals
ISES: The Transition to High School
JANE: Digital Notebook
JOYOUS: The World of Funny Quotes
MICA: FOOD
SASHA: The Wonderful World of Unitatos

Finally, these STEAM girls worked on their content.

Unitatos love the sunlight and they live in an underground Unitato town called Unitatopia and it is amazing by the way. We eat lucky charm fertilizer and dirt chops and rainbow surprise (the surprise is dirt) and sometimes these foods get old. Unitatos never leave Unitatopia unless they are over a level 20 Unitato and I’m not even close to that but I wish. We barely even move an inch sometimes and we only sit on our couches and watch potatoes the show (it’s a really good show btw). We hibernate in the winter and we love to sleep on backs. Unitatos are very tasty to humans but please don’t eat us. We like to sing a song called the Unitato bop and it goes like this ” bop to the left, bop to the right shake your little Unitato behind, now slide to left, now slide to the right now do the bop now bop bop bop bop bop bop now shake shake Shake Shake shake Shake your Unitato behind ” it’s a really catchy song. Unitatos love to dance especially to the Unitato bop. But other than that we never move sometimes. There is a king and queen Unitato and they have two daughters named Amy and Mary and they are twins and they are both in my class at Unitatopia Elementary School (I’m in 5th grade). We learn stuff in school about how to avoid humans and blend in and activate our Unitato powers. Every Unitato has a special power that they need to master and use against humans, my power is the Unitato horn Zap (I haven’t mastered it yet but I’m getting there). Oh and don’t forget about our website @www.UnitatoWorld.net and our numbers 1-800-Help-Unitatos and 1-800-Stop-McDonalds!!!

Just to be clear Unitatos are real and always know that! Unitatos are a mixture between a unicorn and a potato.They are the most wonderful and amazing creature in the universe! Ok I am just gonna come clean and tell you why I’m so obsessed with Unitatos … I am a Unitato and I have always been one since I was 4 but you haven’t noticed that I was one. I am a level 5 Unitatos yes I know what your thinking why do Unitatos have levels well for us we have a process of growing up and becoming mature and that is having levels and the highest level is 500 and you have to do things to gain a level and we have a Unitato that is the most amazing Unitato ever he is the grandpa Unitato. He is 1,200 Unitato years old and he is very wise his name is Bob and he has a wife named Barbra and she is a level 499 Unitato and they tell me stories about their life together and other fun stuff. I am gonna tell you what Unitatos hate the most in the world … FRIES!!! They are so gross and mean to cut up an innocent Unitato and cook the potato part of the Unitato!!!
